Ear Keloid Removal In A League Of It's Own
Ear keloid is the most common complication following piercing. It usually develops after an episode of wound or skin infection. The keloid grows in size, becomes hard and sometimes symptomatic with itching and tenderness. It does not go away on it’s own. The recommended approach to the treatment of ear keloid is usually a combination of surgery and anti-scar micro-injections thereafter to avoid a recurrence.
The procedure:
- Is performed under local anesthesia
- Takes about 1 hour
- Post-operatively patients will be bandaged for 1 day
- External stitches are removed after 7-10 days.

How is the Procedure Done?
Ear keloid removal is usually an outpatient procedure, meaning you can return home the same day of the treatment. The procedure takes about one hour. Here’s how it’s done:
Anaesthesia
Local anaesthesia is given to numb your ears. You will be awake but drowsy and insensitive to pain
Incision
An incision will be made to remove the entire keloid.
Keloid Removal
The entire lump is removed.
Closing the incision
After the keloid has been removed, the incision is sealed with sutures.

After your treatment, you may experience some mild swelling and discomfort. These symptoms should subside in a few days.
You will need to follow some post-operative guidelines to ensure that your recovery proceeds smoothly:
– Avoid drinking and smoking
– We will remove your external stitches after 7-10 days.

Dr Pang is the founder and chief director of A.D.S Clinic, the only leading aesthetic and facial plastic center which employs a team of internationally trained specialists and surgeons with over 50 years of combined experience in private practice. Dr Pang’s passion for aesthetics and innate love for beauty have led to many successes in helping his patients achieve their desired aesthetic outcomes. Dr Lai Juen Bin
Considered the most impressive surgeon of his generation, Dr Lai is a Specialist Maxillofacial Reconstructive Surgeon at A.D.S Clinic – the only leading aesthetic and facial plastic center which employs a team of internationally trained specialists and surgeons with over 50 years of combined experience in private practice. He is a highly experienced top senior consultant surgeon who performs the most ear plastic surgeries in Singapore.
Before working at A.D.S, he held senior positions in several medical establishments. In the years 2008 and 2009, he was a senior consultant and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the National Dental Centre. From 2013 to 2020, He was also the Head of Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Changi General Hospital.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2000, during which he was a Dean’s List recipient and received bronze and gold medals. Thereafter, he completed his Masters in Maxillofacial Surgery and obtained Fellowships of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Subsequently Dr Lai also trained at the prestigious American Academy Of Cosmetic Surgery and received accreditation in facial plastic surgery.
